Whilst literally walking in circles in attempt to find the Illustrated People store in Shoreditch (my sense of direction is not a strong point), I came across Ragyard. The Moroccan sanctuary of pompoms, bells and plastic pelicans. THE place to go if you want to maintain the festival vibe all year round!
You can find Ragyard at the Truman Brewery in Shoreditch (turns out it was right next to Illustrated People), and lucky for me a new Ragyard store has opened up right near me, on Portobello Road. Why is Ragyard my new favourite London boutique? Because almost every piece is completely unique, you’ll never get one of the same. This is a trait that always hits the spot with me. These guys are also the Gods of embellishment! They take a normal item of clothing and go to town on it with beads, sequins, and crazy cool stitching.
Their main speciality is jazzing up jumpers, denim and bomber jackets. So they’re perfect for keeping us warm as we go into autumn, whilst maintaining that colourful hippie vibe that everyones been rocking during festival season!
I took their patchwork cropped top to Ibiza as my funky companion for when I went to see the GREATEST dj, Solomun. It had dramatic flared sleeves, ideal for busting some moves on the dance floor, and a beaded tassel necklace sewn into the collar which meant I didn’t have to think too much about jewellery! I paired it with some vintage rainbow striped shorts, pink snakeskin Greek sandals (an Ibiza purchase,) and of course some gold transfer tattoos. Was I an Ibiza boho stereotype? Yes, absolutely!
The Ragyard is essentially Morocco, with a shot of flower power and a lemon squeeze of vintage! It’ll sort you out when you’re getting hot sweats because your autumn/winter wardrobe is starting to look like London in November, aka…dull.
